Eight ball billiards is played with sixteen balls, including one cue, seven striped, seven solids, and one black eight ball. After the break shot, the players are assigned either the group of solid balls or striped balls once a ball from either group is legally sunk into a pocket. Your goal is to no pocket the eight ball until after all other balls from your group have been pocketed. Pocketing the eight ball sooner results in an automatic loss.
